About Me
About Me
My name is Mohsin. I am a third-year student at the University of Toronto studying computer science and mathematics.
If I were to describe myself using one word, that word would be perfectionist. I put my whole heart into everything I do to demonstrate my passion, skills, and work ethic.
If you tell me to do something, you can be rest assured that I will put my best effort into completing it genuinely.

Interests & Hobbies
Reading Math Textbooks
Reading is one of the best ways to learn new things. I enjoy reading math textbooks as it is a great way for me to gain a rich understanding of concepts while challenging myself to learn independently.
In addition, I am able to see how professional mathematicians explain concepts and express their thoughts. As a result, I was able to shape my own unique mathematical writing style and structure.
My favorite math textbook so far has to be Calculus: Early Transcendentals by James Stewart. This book is easy to understand, explains concepts well, and provides many examples and illustrations. I have thoroughly read every single page of this book and solved many of the exercises (this book is about 1400 pages)!
Teaching Mathematics
Since the beginning of 2020, I have been teaching math online through Zoom. My students range from high school students to first-year university students.
I enjoy teaching because it challenges me to revisit concepts/ideas and explain them in a way that meets the needs of each student. As a result, I am able to see new insights that I may have missed before and reinforce my understanding of certain topics. Teaching also builds my confidence, improves my communication skills, and motivates me to discover resources such as textbooks, websites, and software to complement learning.
As someone who is really passionate about studies, I get the opportunity to improve a student’s study skills, influence their mindset about learning, and act as a positive role model.

Photo/Video Editing
I enjoy editing and adding cool effects to photos and videos. Usually, the final product is very satisfying to see. As a result, I have interest in learning about professional software.
I have taught myself how to use the following photo and video editing softwares:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe After Effects
- Final Cut Pro X
My ability to use these softwares has come in handy many times in the past. A recent example is when I participated in the PyJaC Rebooted Hackathon. The final submission required a video showcasing the final project. Since I am familiar with creating and uploading videos to YouTube this wasn’t a problem.
I feel like having some basic knowledge with common professional software is a useful skill to have, and so I will continue to learn about different software.
Card Magic
After watching some performances by Shin Lim and David Blaine, I was interested in learning about card magic. From Youtube I was able to learn some cool card magic tricks, sleight of hand techniques, and cardistry.
Card magic has been a hobby of mine for more than four years. Nowadays, I focus more on cardistry than magic tricks. Specifically practicing and learning fancy false shuffles and card flourishes.
Video Games
People tell me that I am a pretty competitive person, and this is no exception when it comes to video games. I do not like to explore many games, instead I stick to a few and try to become the best at them.
Video games have been a big part of my life. I started gaming on Nintendo DS and then switched to PlayStation. Nowadays, I play on the PlayStation 5. Two games I am currently playing are Fortnite and Destiny 2. For both games, I am on the global leaderboards and have competed in some tournaments.
YouTube
My interest in photo/video editing and gaming led me to create my own gaming YouTube channel. I got close to 1000 subscribers and one of my videos reached 25,000 views.
Creating YouTube videos was a very big time commitment for me.
The process for me to upload a video to YouTube went something like this:
- play the game to record good gameplay
- edit the gameplay in Final Cut Pro X
- create a thumbnail for the video using Adobe Photoshop
- upload the video to YouTube with clever tags to rank the video in search results
I ended up getting busy with school and so I stopped uploading, but I learned a lot about video editing, thumbnail design, and YouTube’s video ranking algorithm. In the near future, I want to try YouTube again, but this time I will create an educational channel where I teach math.
